STANDING REGULATIONS
According to the decision of the Faculty Council, studies leading to the degrees of Doctor of Medicine or Odontology are open to persons who have completed a Licentiate of Medicine or Licentiate of Odontology at a university in Finland or a comparable degree from a university in another country.
To take a doctoral degree you must participate in scientific postgraduate education in the manner specified by the Faculty, and publish a dissertation.
In order to be accepted for doctoral training you need to apply to the Faculty for the right to study. After being accepted, you need to enrol as a student at the University of Turku. More detailed instructions can be found in section 5.1. As soon as possible after starting the training, the student must present a study plan for the theoretical training of the doctoral degree and register the dissertation research.
More detailed instructions can be found in section 6.1. The study plan and registration of the dissertation is approved by the Dean on the proposal made by the Dissertation Unit.
